Are you considering couples therapy or marriage counseling? Learn what you can expect from Glendora, California experienced Marriage & Couples Therapist Ilissa Banhazl, MFT.
As an experienced couples and marriage therapist, I offer a safe space for partners to address challenges and strengthen their relationships. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each couple, helping them gain insight into communication patterns, resolve conflicts, and rebuild trust. Whether couples are facing long-term issues or recent stressors such as financial issues, lack of intimacy or infidelity, virtual couples therapy provides the flexibility and convenience to work through concerns from the comfort of their home.
Virtual Couples Therapy for Glendora, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Francisco couples.
I’m currently accepting new patients across California, including Glendora, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco and surrounding. Couples seek therapy for various reasons, including:
Communication issues – Misunderstandings and lack of open dialogue are common reasons for couples to pursue therapy.
Trust and infidelity – Rebuilding trust after betrayal or addressing insecurities often requires guided conversations.
Conflict resolution – Learning effective ways to manage disagreements is key to maintaining a healthy relationship.
Intimacy issues – Physical and emotional disconnect can strain relationships over time.
Life transitions – Major changes like marriage, children, or relocation can create stress and tension.
By working with me, couples can develop tools to overcome these hurdles and cultivate stronger, more fulfilling partnerships.
Are you wondering what to expect from couples counseling? You’re not alone. I receive calls from either one in the couplehood inquiring about couple’s therapy. What will it be like they wonder…
Here’s exactly how couple’s counseling with me works:
1. First, I will invite you both to attend a session or two together.
2. When we meet I will ask you each to take a turn describing why you have come now to counseling and what you hope to accomplish.
3. You may choose to share one or two issues and I will teach you how you can be more effective in your discussions.
4. I will send you home with new skills such as communicating by using “I statements”. For example, I feel (fill in the blank) when you (fill in the blank), and I need you to (fill in the blank).
You can practice using this technique throughout the week. Fill in the blanks now and see what comes up for you.
5. When you return we can discuss your successes and obstacles from the prior week and work together to resolve any old or new issues or concerns.
6. In the third session, I will invite one of you to come in by yourself to share about yourself, your situation and your hopes and concerns.
7. In the fourth session, I will invite the other person to come in for an individual session for the same reason. Of course this timeline will vary because every couple is unique.
8. Unless there is a reason to meet individually, you will return to your couple session together the following week.
9. From then on we will meet as a couple but individual sessions are possible when needed. Everyone feels included and supported.
10. Couples meet weekly, every other week or monthly. We will create your own individualized treatment plan.
If you feel like your relationship is failing or is stuck and unsatisfying; consider couple’s therapy as a way to move forward and resolve problems. Call today to book your free 15 minute consultation at (626) 664-5924.
